Frequenty Asked Questions

Why do I need a DBS check?

The NHS requires all new employees, and existing employees who are changing their job, who come into contact with patients or their data as part of their normal activities to undergo a DBS check as part of the pre-employment clearances. East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust and Eastern & Coastal Kent NHS Community Health are committed to safeguarding and putting patients first.

How long does a DBS check take to process?

Once a form is submitted to the DBS the process takes an average of 8 days. Some checks may take longer than this.

There is an error on my Disclosure. What can I do?

If you have received the results of your DBS check and there is an error or you wish to challenge any of the information, you must contact the DBS directly. Disputes must be raised with the DBS within the first three months of the date of issue of the Disclosure.

Further guidance can be found on the DBS’s website
